The 2019 Whistler Regional: Thursday, October 31

Whistler Trivia 3

In 1972, Whistler, then called Alta Lake, was offered the 1976 Winter Olympics but local opposition forced the local government to decline.  Which city, originally awarded the 1976 Winter Games, also had to decline because of local opposition, and which city eventually hosted the 1976 Winter Games?  (Answer at the bottom of the page.)

Attendance So Far

850 tables at the end of Thursday play; up from 2017 by 94½ tables (+12.5%).  We'll see if the arriving weekend crowd can boost attendance even further!

Trivia answer: Denver was originally awarded the 1976 Winter Games, and after Denver and Whistler both declined, the IOC rejected an offer by Salt Lake City to host and selected Innsbruck, Austria, which had hosted in 1964.
