Bridge clubs and tournaments throughout the ACBL are struggling with returning to live play, so comparing this tournament’s attendance to one before the pandemic is not really fair. We'll hope to get around 60% of the 2018 attendance, making the target number 571 tables this time — but perhaps we will be pleasantly surprised!

Winners: Gary Tomczyk, Alexandre Ribeyre
Only seven tables, but a powerful group with an average of over 4000 per player, forcing the strats to be stretched to the point where Strat C was 0-4000! The winners, Gary Tomczyk and Alexandre Ribeyre, traded places several times with the B winners, David Taylor and Kemble Yates, who led by a quarter board at the interval, and the final margin was just one-fiftieth of a top! The inaptly named Strat C (0-4000) was won by Ken Bibby and Eugene Chan, who finished fifth overall.

Quite the finish in Bracket One, with Tenneson scoring 30VP out of 40 in the final round-robin to win by a single VP over two strong teams! In Bracket Two, Falls led by 13 going into the final round-robin and didn't need to do much to win it: but 17 VPs out of 40 was asking for trouble, luckily, the runners-up could only muster 22 out of 40 in the final round-robin.

For those of you who used to like the puzzles I printed in the old bulletins, here is a link to an online version: one of the puzzles that I used to feature in the old paper Bulletins, but it is easy to play on a computer as well. Not so easy on a tablet or phone, since most of the puzzles require right-clicks, not easily done in a tablet or phone environment.
Rectangles gives you a grid of cells; divide the grid into rectangles so that every cell is part of a rectangle, and each rectangle contains exactly one numbered cell that is the number of cells in its rectangle. (Don't forget, squares are also rectangles.) Strategy: The larger numbers usually have a limited set of possible rectangles they can fit in; start with the largest numbers and the smaller ones will become apparent. Click on the puzzle you want to try at the right (or the caption below) to go to the page with all the instructions you’ll need. These puzzles come from Simon Tatham’s Portable Puzzle Collection (see below) and there are links there to apps for most devices.

- Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519) was the Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who painted the Mona Lisa and kept hundreds of notebooks with ideas that would be used in the future.
- Leonhard Euler (1707 - 1783) was a Swiss polymath who specialized in mathematics and the early development of calculus, but ventured into many other topics while solving the thorniest problems of the era.
- Nikita Krushchev (1894 - 1971) emerged as the leader of the Soviet Union after Stalin's death, until being ousted by Leonid Brezhnev in 1964.
- Joe Davis (1901 - 1978) was the dominant figure in snooker from the 1920s to the 1950s, world champion every year from 1927 thru 1946 in a tournament he made happen; after retiring he remained as chairman of the players association and watched the sport begin to grow in the 1970s thanks to color TV.
- Emad El-Din Mohamed Abdel Mena‘em “Dodi” Fayed (1955 - 1997) was one of the victims of the 1997 Paris car crash that also took the life of Princess Diana, with whom he had been romantically linked for several months.
